Blogging is one of the most effective ways to grow your platform (social media as well, but you’ve got to point people to SOMETHING when you’re posting on Facebook and Pinterest!)
But blogging for the sake of Blogging will get you nowhere.
You’ve got to blog with two purposes in mind:
- Compelling Your Audience
What is the info that your reader is looking for? Are you giving them what they need? One of the best things you can do as a blogger is to find our why someone is reading your blog and what you are uniquely offering them. Are you giving them hope for a hard situation they are going through? Do you dispense advice, with just enough humor to make it go down easy? Do you have inside information about a particular topic that others are dying to know about? How can you compel your audience to keep coming back for more – and to share your wisdom with others? - Serving Your Audience
Are you constantly asking for your audience to do something for you (“Like my page!” “Buy my book!” “Share with your friends!”) without serving them first?
Every time you get in front of your audience, figure out a way to serve them. Can you give them a resource they need, an idea they have never thought of, a download that will help them do life better?
Show up and serve your audience. They will thank you by spreading the word!

Your instruction to “show up and serve” at Mount Hermon has been ringing in my ears ever since, Kathy! I’ve noticed I’m becoming less concerned with stats and views than I am about delivering exactly what single moms need to get them through another day. Bless you!
p.s. Sorry, I spelled your name wrong! I should know better… 🙂
