When bad stuff happens to us… we write and speak about it! Many of our platforms have been born from coming through something, or many things, that were hard and being able to see the goodness of God throughout our journey. Their is a skill in talking about the horrible things that have happened to us without causing our audience to need therapy afterward.
In this riveting episode, hosts Kathi Lipp and Michele Cushatt talk with author and speaker Cindy Bultema about sharing the “bad stuff” of one’s life to show the goodness of God. Both Cindy and Michele address the difficulties and blessings of allowing an audience into the unpleasant of their pasts and the power of doing so.
Authors and speakers alike, you do not want to miss this episode full of honesty and humor.

What a powerful episode! Praise God. Kathi your questions were excellent, and the responses were powerful. I took notes. 🙂
I recognize Cindy’s story from Grief Share, and I reached out to Michele via FB a year ago to let her know God used Undone to give the breakthrough I was waiting for Re. Anxiety. Out of a stack of Unread books on grief, Undone made my very short recommended reading list, which I shared on FB as books that impacted me.
My key moment, when I first felt called to communicate my/our story, was a few weeks after my husbsnd’s death. A friend suggested I could talk to people about cancer. I said, “Our story was never about cancer, it’s about the faithfulness of God.”
In that moment, I knew God wanted me to tell His story through our story. As you said, to use my story to illuminate his truth in a powerful way.
Months later, I had opportunity to speak to the women of our home church. God’s faithfulness was woven throughout. After a year, He had me begin sharing pieces of our story on fb. People kept saying, “You need to write a book!” God hasn’t given the go-ahead yet, but He’s setting me up for blogging. Coming soon!
